Application

Penalty Enforcement/Yards Assessed

In instances where the assessment of penalty yards exceed the yards available in the field of play, penalty yards will be assessed so the ball is placed at half the distance to the goal.  The only exception pertains to the assessment of penalty yards attributed to any misconduct or personal foul.  In the case of any misconduct / personal foul, penalty yards will be assessed so the ball will be placed at the one foot line.

  • Onside Play Attempt

Penalties may be called during an onside play attempt, either increasing or decreasing the distance needed by the team attempting to regain possession of the ball.  Consecutive penalties by the defending team, where the yards assessed advance the ball 15 yards to or beyond the yard line needed to regain possession, automatically affords the team attempting the onside play possession of the ball.

  • Personal Fouls

Any misconduct or personal foul against a team where no player is designated will be attributed to the team???¢??s captain.

The penalty for any misconduct or personal foul by a player after a scoring play (i.e., touchdown, extra point, safety) will be assessed on the ensuing play, including the onside play.

Any misconduct or personal foul by a player from the defending team, during or immediately after the onside play, automatically affords the team attempting the onside play to regain possession of the ball.  Penalty yards will be assessed from the yard line where the onside play ended.

Any misconduct or personal foul by a player on the team attempting to regain possession, during or immediately after the onside play, automatically negates the opportunity for that playerÃ???Ã??Ã?¢??s team to regain possession of the ball.  Penalty yards will be assessed from the yard line where the onside play ended and the defending team will take over possession of the ball.
